Insecurity Bandits Release Abducted Kano University Lecturer

The Associate Professor with the Kano University of Science and Technology (KUST), Wudil, Huzaifa Karfi, who was held back by bandits after he delivered ransom for the release of a district head in Kano community, has been released his abductors.

Gunmen had on May 26, 2022, stormed Karfi village, Takai Local Council of Kano State and abducted the village head, Yahaya Ilu.

After much negotiations with the bandits, Professor Karfi took the ransom to the bandits who released the village head and held him back.

However, a family source told DAILY POST that Dr. Karfi was released on Saturday afternoon.

As of the time of filing this report, it was reliably learned that the released lecturer, alongside others, were on their way back to Kano.

The ever gloomy Kaduna-Abuja expressway which has been reported for one bad news after another has been the target of bandits again as they laid siege to it while attacking a few passengers and kidnapping one student along the road on Thursday.

According to a press statement signed by Abdul Gusau Polytechnic’s Head of Public Relations, Comrade Aliyu Damri, the bandits blocked the highway between Kurmin Kare and Katari in Kachia Local Government Area of the State where they kidnapped the student and many other people.

He further stated that the attack involved many commercial and private vehicles plying the highway at about 4pm, saying that the terrorists abducted over 16 people.

A motorist, who escaped being abducted, told reporters that the bandits struck around Katari axis some minutes after 4 p.m.
