The House of Representatives has resolved to write a petition to the National Judiciary Council (NJC) against Justice Taiwo Taiwo of Abuja Federal High Court over a restraining order issued against the House over a $10 million bribery allegation.
Justice Taiwo on the 20th of May restrained the House of Representatives’ ad hoc committee investigating the allegation made by Mr. Ikenga Ugochinyere, Spokesperson, Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP).
Mr. Ikenga made allegations without providing evidence that the House of Representatives collected the bribe of $10million from Bill Gates to pass the Infectious Disease bill.
The Ad hoc committee in its report considered by Committee of the Whole on Tuesday resolved to drag the judge before the NJC for the restraining order.
“Petition the National Judicial Commission (NJC) to investigate Justice Taiwo O. Taiwo and the circumstances surrounding the Order procured by Ikenga & CUPP.”
Calling for caution, Ken Chikere, who is married to Justice A.I Chikere of the Federal High Court, said that the house should expunge the recommendation for the petition of the judge.
He said that “when you lose a case in court, you appeal not that you will write a petition against the judge.”
The House also resolved to refer Mr. Ikenga to security agencies for criminal investigations after failing to appear before the House committee.
“Refer the matter to the appropriate Security agencies for criminal investigation and activate processes for requisite redress against Bar.
Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the spokesman of the Coalition of Political Parties (CUPP), since he failed to appear to prove his claims;
“Institute a legal action for Criminal libel, Misinformation and Criminal Defamation of Character with the appropriate institutions, against Bar. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere of the Coalition of Political Parties (CUPP,” the House resolved.
