Suspected hoodlums on Sunday morning targeted the Campaign Secretariat of Muritala Yakubu Ajaka, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for the Kogi State governorship.
The vandals damaged the glass frontage of the Secretariat, leaving it in a messy state. Additionally, they tore down the banners featuring President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and proceeded to burn them right outside the office.
During his tenure as the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Muritala Yakubu Ajaka opened the Campaign Secretariat near Paparanda junction in Lokoja in January. It was initially intended to support Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s presidential campaign.
Muritala Yakubu Ajaka switched his allegiance from the All Progressive Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) after he was unable to secure the ruling party’s ticket for the governorship candidacy during the primary.
Chief Sam Abenemi, the running mate of the SDP governorship candidate, expressed his dissatisfaction and referred to the attack on the Campaign Secretariat as unfortunate during a conversation with journalists on Sunday.
Chief Sam Abenemi stated that during the previous week, certain hoodlums had approached the security officers at the Campaign Secretariat, insisting that they remove the billboards and banners featuring Asiwaju Tinubu/Shettima.
