Against the backdrop of the ongoing crisis in the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the immediate former National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus has congratulated the party’s Presidential candidate, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and the National Executive Committee (NEC) for stabilising the party.

Secondus said the decision taken at the 97th NEC meeting has further strengthened the party’s unity ahead of the 2023 election.

The former PDP National Chairman in a statement, Friday noted that the outcome of the NEC meeting showed the party is set and ready for victory.

He also commended the immediate Past Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) Senator Walid Jibrin for resigning voluntarily in the interest of peace and harmony and unity in the party.

Secondus also congratulated former Senate President Adolphus Wabara who was elected the acting Chairman of the BOT.

He charged all members of the party to put all hands on deck for the victory of PDP and Atiku.

Secondus had recently lashed out at Governor Nyesom Wike over his warning against his support for Atiku Abubakar.

Africa Daily News, New York recalls that Wike had lost the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential ticket to the former vice president in the primary elections which was held in May.

The Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal’s last-minute deal with Atiku knocked Wike, who supported him at the 2018 convention in Port Harcourt, to the second position.

Since then, Wike has gone on the offensive attacking state and national PDP leaders and officials.

Meanwhile, the embattled National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu has confirmed that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) will next week meet with Wike and other aggrieved members of the party.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser, on Media and Communications, Simon Imobo-Tswam, Ayu made this known when he led members of the NWC on a visit to the acting chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), Senator Adolphus Wabara.

The national chairman was quoted to have said that because of other preplanned engagements, the Deputy National Chairman (North) Iliya Damagun, will be leading other NWC members to Port Harcourt, next week the meet with Wike.
