8 PDP Governors Fails To Attend National Caucus Meeting

No fewer than eight Governors of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday stayed away from the party’s National Caucus meeting which was held in Abuja on Wednesday.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that some Chieftains who were in attendance included Bode George, former VP Namadi Sambo; National Chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu, and the BOT Chairman, Senator Walid Jibrin.

The party’s presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar was also in attendance at the meeting which was held behind closed doors.

The meeting which was believed to be geared towards resolving the party’s post-convention crisis.

The meeting was also very crucial to the formation of the party’s campaign council which has become due ahead of the commencement of campaigns on September 28.

However, the Governors taking sides with the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike did not show up at the meeting.

Speaking after the meeting, the National Publicity Secretary, Mister Debo Ologunagba, insisted that there was never a time during the meeting that the issue of the national chairman’s resignation was mentioned.

The PDP has been enmeshed in internal crisis since the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate for the 2023 Elections, with Wike leading the call for the resignation of the PDP national chairman.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has boasted that he would not leave his political opponents for God, insisting that he would deal with them himself saying he has what it takes to do so.

Wike openly declared that he would flog ‘the small boys.’

Governor Wike spoke on Monday afternoon when he inaugurated the Okezuo Abia Flyover along the Aba-Enugu Expressway in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area, and the rehabilitated Aba- Owerri Road in Aba South Local Government Area of Abia State.
