Wrestler Sentenced To Death For Killing Wife In Adamawa

Mr. Thank-You Grim who is a wrestler from the Guyuk Local Government Area of Adamawa State has been given a death sentence as he is to die by hanging for the murder of his wife Kwalla Grim. 
Africa Daily News, New York reports that after being found guilty of murder by the court, the wrestler, Thank-You Grim, who was being prosecuted by Justice Nathan Musa, Chief Judge of Adamawa State—was condemned to death.
Justice Musa said the following while delivering his ruling yesterday said:, ‘The prosecution was able to prove with cogent evidence that the convict actually killed the deceased. Therefore, the convict is accordingly sentenced to death by hanging as provided by Section 192(b) of Penal Code Law.’
It was learned that on March 24, 2018, the convict, who is from the Sili community in the Guyuk LGA, murdered his wife on a charge of domestic violence.
Court documents show that Thank-You ‘wrestled his wife to the ground and used pestle in smashing her face in a dreadful manner with the knowledge that her death would be probable of his act.’
Records indicate that prior to the tragedy on January 10, 2018, which resulted in the death of  Kwalla, the couple’s marriage was ridden with troubles.
The victim allegedly fell in love with another man after her marriage with the wrestler failed and she took the decision to be married again.
According to reports, she mounting pressure on the convict to get a divorce.
According to what was learned, Thank-You sort of agreed after initially dismissing her requests and lured her to his home where he begged her to reconsider the marriage.
Where she allegedly turned down his advances
The accused said during his testimony in court that Kwala’s disclosure to him that she enchanted him made him furious.
He claimed ignorance when he wrestled her to the floor and pummeled her with a pestle which resulted in her death.
Thank-You revealed that when they heard her scream for help, several of the neighbors tried to intercede, but he chased them away.
On that day, he claimed to have surrendered himself to the police at Chikila in Guyuk LGA, where he informed them that he had killed his estranged wife.
F. A. Ogbe, the Chief Legal Officer of the Nigeria Legal Aid Council in Adamawa State and the convict’s solicitor expressed gratitude to the court for what he called a well-considered decision in response to the verdict.
