One of the former presidents of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has openly charged all Nigerian youths make to make sure that they wake up from their slumbers and take over their leadership positions, rather than waiting for the future and waiting for corrupt leaders to ruin them.

Obasanjo had made this known while speaking during an interview with Nigerian football legend, Segun Odegbami, on his Eagle7 Sports programme on 103.7 FM, reiterated that the youths should always reject the “leaders of tomorrow” tag as corrupt leaders would destroy the so-called tomorrow if the younger generation fail to rise up and take their future in their hands.

“My advice for Nigerian youths is that they should never let anybody tell them that you are the leaders of tomorrow. If you wait for tomorrow before you take over leadership, that tomorrow may not come. They will destroy it.

“This is the time the youth should get up and make it happen,” Obasanjo said while responding to questions from Odegbami.

In another report, Olusegun Obasanjo, on Saturday, asserted that everything about him is accidental, except farming.

Obasanjo, who was military Head of State before he was elected as civilian President in 1999, said the only thing he did in life that did not come by happenstance is farming.

Speaking on a live radio interview with Segun Odegbami on Eagles7 Sports 103.7 FM, Abeokuta, the former Nigerian leader said he is always proud to be addressed as a farmer.

Odegbami had asked him to speak about what he termed his “romance with farming”.
