Gov Fayemi Fires Political Aides In Major Cabinet Rejig

The Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi has terminated the appointment of some of his political aides in a bid to rejig his cabinet.

This mass sacking action which was in consonant with the Ekiti state’s transition law, was also to done to ensure the payments of entitlements of political office holders and their terminal benefits.

A memo signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Foluso Daramola, and made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti over the weekend, had announced that the Ekiti State Governor, Fayemi had approved the termination of their appointment with effect from 31st July 2022.

He further stated that the action would pave the way for the state government to process all outstanding allowances to the affected officials, for a smooth transition from the incumbent administration to the new government.

The memo reads in part: “A Transition Committee was constituted to among others, evolve strategies for a smooth transition from the incumbent to the incoming government.

“One of the duties of the Committee, in line with Ekiti State Transition Law, is to ensure the payment of entitlements of political office holders including their terminal benefits.

“His Excellency Dr John Kayode Fayemi has approved that the services of all Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, Technical Assistants and Executives Assistants would end on 31st July 2022 to enable the State Government process all outstanding allowances of the affected officials more so that the Government is winding up.”

In another report, Governor Kayode Fayemi has also claimed that the emergence of Sen. Bola Tinubu as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a collective wish of party members.

Fayemi made the assertion in a statement signed by Mr Yinka Oyebode, his Chief Press Secretary which was made available to Africa Daily News, New York.

The governor said Tinubu had proven his dedication and competence to lead Nigeria at a very important time in the country’s history.

Recall that Fayemi was one of the seven persons who stepped down for Tinubu at the just-concluded APC Special Convention in Abuja, described the APC flag bearer as a long distance runner with the capacity to lead the country to greater heights.
