Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has finally come out to completely debunk some reports which has been making rounds that its legal adviser has tendered in his resignation in protests over the selection of Kashim Shettima as the running mate of its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, in a statement on Monday had also described the report as as false and misleading.

The reports followed announcement by Abuja based lawyer, Daniel Bwala, that he is quitting the ruling party over the selection of Shetimmma, who like Tinubu, is a Muslim.

But in its statement, Morka said Bwala is not the party’s legal adviser.

“Our attention has been drawn to a false and misleading report circulating on some media platforms that the National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has resigned.

“Barr. Ahmad Usman El-Marzuq is, and remains, the National Legal Adviser of APC.

“Barr. Daniel Bwala was not the National Legal Adviser of the Party as erroneously reported.

“The report is either borne out of mischief or extreme negligence. We urge the general public to kindly disregard,” Morka said.

In another report, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has declared that it was not moved by the announcement of another Muslim, Senator Kashim Shettima as the running mate of the Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The umbrella Christian organisation asserted that its leaders were determined to stand their ground against every form of intimidation, including the floating of a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket by the political party.

The association’s chairman, Kaduna state chapter, Rev. John Hayab, made this known while speaking to reporters in the Kaduna State capital on Sunday.
