The Police PRO had also reported that the Police teams were on the trail of the hoodlums to make sure that they are apprehended.

Abiodun had also appealed to residents, especially some of the rural dwellers, to remain calm as Police and other security agencies would not relent in the ongoing fight against banditry.

He called for support for security agencies by giving intelligence information that could aid in apprehending criminal elements in the state. He had also called on some of residents in the State not to hesitate to report any person or group of persons with gunshot injuries to the nearest security outfit for necessary action.

In another report, a Polytechnic Lecturer in Zamfara State who doubles as the Student Affairs Officer of the school, Sanusi Halilu, has been killed by his abductors despite the payment of five million naira ransom for his release.

Africa Daily News, New York reports that Sanusi Halilu was killed after nearly five weeks in captivity.

A close source told reporters under the condition of anonymity that a five million Naira ransom was paid to the bandits on Tuesday in a bush near some villages along Kaduna – Zaria road, in Kaduna State.

The bandits confirmed his death less than 24 hours after the payment of the ransom, an indication that he was killed long ago even when negotiations for his release were on.
