The Northern governors on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC have on Friday met with the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu in a congratulatory visit while promising him their full support in the race.

The meeting was aimed at congratulating Tinubu over his victory at the party’s just-concluded presidential election in Abuja.

Governor Bello Masari of Katsina State made the meeting public via a series of tweets.

Masari assured that Northern governors would work hard to ensure Tinubu becomes Nigeria’s next president in 2023.

He wrote: “Myself and other @OfficialAPCNg Governors from the north paid a congratulatory visit to our flag bearer in the 2023 Presidential elections, HE @officialABAT on his well-deserved victory at the primaries. You have paid your dues as the leader of the party.

“It is now our turn to rally round you, work hard and ensure a resounding victory in the 2023 elections. At hand to receive us was the Speaker @HouseNGR @femigbaja and the former Borno State Governor @KashimSM.”

This is coming as the APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on Thursday night paid a surprise visit to the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo in Abuja.

Tinubu, who had earlier visited President Muhammadu Buhari stopped by to visit Osinbajo, one of his opponents at the APC Presidential primary election.

Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Osinbajo said they got a call that Tinubu would be visiting.

He said Tinubu came in company of the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and that the Vice President received the surprise with some of his associates.

Akande wrote: “We got a call: Asiwaju Tinubu who was visiting President at his Presidential Villa residence this evening will be making an unscheduled stop at VP’s residence also.

“Lagos Gov accompanied him & VP received the surprise with some of his associates whom he was meeting with earlier.

“the meeting was one of pleasantries and very convivial. The meeting lasted about 30 minutes.”

Tinubu, one of the leaders of the APC, emerged as its 2023 presidential candidate at its just concluded Special Convention and Presidential Primary Election on Wednesday.

Tinubu, who contested the party’s presidential ticket with 13 other aspirants, polled 1,271 votes at the election to pick the ticket. Rotimi Amaechi, the immediate past Minister of Transportation, came second with 316 votes, while Vice President Yemi Osinbajo came third with 235 delegate votes.
