The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has claimed that the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Ahmed Tinubu has no chance of defeating its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the 2023 general elections.

Africa Daily News, New York had earlier reported that Tinubu had clinched the presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in a primary election which was held at Eagles Sqaure in Abuja on Tuesday night.

In a statement signed by the spokesperson of the opposition party, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP said Tinubu had clinched the ticket ‘at a very great price.’

It described the APC as ‘a fraudulent contraption that brought in the failed, corrupt and rudderless administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.”

‘Our Party also sympathizes with Asiwaju for embarking on a journey to nowhere as he is no match for PDP’s more popular, more competent and more prepared Presidential Candidate, His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar the unifier and the people’s choice, who defeated President Buhari fair and square in the 2019 Presidential election,’ the PDP said.

‘Asiwaju will soon realize that Nigeria is not one of his acquired estates or fiefdoms and that the Nigerian people are not his political string-puppets and retinue of lackies, from whom he bought the APC Presidential ticket.’

Meanwhile, Tinubu has announced that he bears no grudges or grievances against anyone, not even those that do not support his ambition.

The former two-term Lagos State governor thanked the party’s delegates and leadership for making him its presidential candidate for 2023 presidential election.

Tinubu, while pointing out that he was intoxicated by the victory, thanked the party’s governors for what he described as their invaluable contributions to internal democracy and unity.

He commended the party’s leadership and organisers for the conduct of a successful convention and thanked the delegates for the confidence they had shown in him.
