The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has revealed that following recent developments, sensitive electoral materials will no longer be routed through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as was the case before now.

Recall that some Nigerians had called for the removal of sensitive electoral materials from Nigeria’s apex bank after a group purchased the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential forms for the CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele.

Nigerians asked President Muhammadu Buhari to sack Emefiele over the purchase of APC presidential forms.

However, Emefiele dismissed knowledge of the forms.

Meanwhile, as the race for the 2023 General elections intensifies, the electoral body has reported that fresh registration in the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) has hit 10. 2 million.

INEC said this in its quarter four, week seven, released in Abuja, saying that 6.5 registrants have so far completed their registration.

The commission pointed out that out of the people that completed their registration, 2,928,447 did it online, while 3,615,798 did physical registration.

A gender breakdown of the registration revealed that 3,253,441 of the persons were males, while 3,290,804 were females, of which 53,663 were persons with disabilities, while 4,550,847 were youths.

A total of 18,912,511 applications including those for voter transfer, requests for replacement of Permanent Voter Cards, update of voter information record, were received by INEC.

Meanwhile, the general elections is expected to happen in about eight months time.
