The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to the claims that it lost about $75,000 on Wednesday, dismissing them as as untrue while urging the public to discountenance the reports.

This clarification was made by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Barr. Felix Morka in a statement which was issued to newsmen and obtained by Africa Daily News, New York on Thursday.

Morka submitted that the reports had it that an unnamed individual had lost his $50,000 around the main entrance gate of the party secretariat on the said date, a development which he marinated had no connection with the ruling party or it’s activities on that day.

‘To be clear, the lost money does not belong to the Party. The loss is neither connected with proceeds of sale of forms nor with relocation of the venue for the collection of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms from the secretariat grounds to the International Conference Centre (ICC), as erroneously reported by the media’ Morka clarified.

He went on to add that; ‘The Party’s decision to relocate the venue for collection of forms to the ICC was to ease heavy human and vehicular traffic around the Secretariat with teeming aspirants and their supporters who thronged the Secretariat to collect forms’.

Morka further noted that as widely publicised and reported in major news outlets, all purchase of forms are payable to designated bank accounts of the Party. In any event, the fee for the said forms is set and denominated in Naira not US Dollars.

Africa Daily News, New York reports that the ruling party had on Tuesday began its sales of nomination forms for the 2023 polls. Despite the heavy criticism it came under following the announcement on the amount payable to obtain the expression of interest and nomination forms, the Party has continued the sales.
