On Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will address the United Nations Security Council.

According to him, there will be more, worse cases of mass killings of civilians by Russian forces.

As a result of the discovery of hundreds of bodies, some bound and shot at very close range, the Security Council will meet Tuesday to discuss Ukrainian allegations about murders committed by Russian soldiers in Bucha, northwest of Kyiv.

According to Russian officials, the accusations have been categorically denied, and the Russian government says it will present “empirical evidence” to the UN Security Council demonstrating its forces have not committed any atrocity.

Ukraine’s president has already been able to address more than a dozen governmental bodies via video link, including the United States.

In delivering his nightly video address in the early hours of Tuesday, Zelenskyy said: “I would like to emphasize that we are interested in the most complete, transparent investigation, the results of which will be known and explained to the entire international community”.

Zelenskyy said at least 300 civilians had been killed in Bucha, a town which was retaken by Ukraine from Russian forces and mass graves were found.

“And this is only one town: one of many Ukrainian communities which the Russian forces managed to capture,” he stated. “Now, there is information that in Borodyanka and some other liberated Ukrainian towns, the number of casualties of the occupiers may be even much higher”.

According to Ukrainian authorities, the entire Kyiv region and other districts have been regained after Russia announced it had shifted its focus away from Kyiv and Chernihiv in the north in order to seize control of all eastern Donbas.

To the northeast and east of Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Sumy, “the occupiers did something that the locals did not even witness during the Nazi occupation 80 years ago”, Zelenskyy affirmed.

In his view, the Russian forces did not conceal anything about the events in Bucha, but that they might be able to do so in other places where they have controlled territory.
