China has responded to the claim made by the US insisting that it never received any request from Russia for help in the Ukraine war.

The Chinese government asserted that no such request asking for military equipment or other assistance to support its war was made by Russia while accusing the US of misinforming people.

Africa Daily News, New York recalls that two US officials over the weekend told CNN at that Russia had asked China for military equipment, as well as economic assistance.

However, Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman, Zhao Lijian told a press conference that the US was “=’peddling disinformation.’

When quizzed the reported request for assistance by Russia, the Minister said, ‘Recently, the US side has been peddling disinformation against China on the Ukraine issue with sinister intentions.

‘China’s position on the Ukraine issue is consistent and clear, and we have been playing a constructive role in promoting peace talks.’

China said the war in Ukraine must not continue, adding that it was imperative for both parties to cool down the tension.

He said his country was not ready to add fuel to the fire, insisting it is important to push for a diplomatic solution, rather than further escalating the situation.

Meanwhile, Africa Daily News, New York had last week reported that Russian President, Vladimir Putin called for volunteers to help fight Ukrainian forces.

Putin had pointed out that foreign forces who are willing to join forces with Russian troops to fight Ukraine are welcomed.

Putin made this known when he was speaking during a Russian security council meeting in Moscow last Friday.

The president spoke after the country’s Defence Minister, Sergei Shoigu, said 16,000 volunteers in the Middle East were ready to join forces with Russia against Ukraine.
