The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, has said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was put together to produce President Muhammadu Buhari as its presidential candidate in 2015.

Speaking at the first year memorial service of the publisher of Leadership newspapers, Sam Nda-Isaiah, in Abuja, he said after the late publisher declared his ambition to contest the presidency in Minna in 2015, he was forced to have a discussion with him to know that the merger was put together in favour of Buhari.

‘I remember discussing with him after his declaration. I asked him if that was real, because I wanted us to have a conversation, and if it did not turn out the way he wanted he would not be embittered.’

‘I told him the truth about what I thought because I was the deputy National Chairman of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), which was one of the major parties that merged to form the APC.

‘As the deputy national chairman, I coordinated the activities of the merger committee which was instrumental to the committee membership and the terms of reference and I knew that the merger was driven by the ACN, then.

‘I stand to be corrected, but I can say it was intended to produce a President Muhammadu Buhari candidacy,’ he said.

In her submission, the wife of the president, Aisha Buhari, described the late publisher as an associate.

She explained he was able to make friends all over the country because of his strength, and urged his wife to be strong for the family.
