Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has explained why he wants Prof. Charles Soludo to succeed him as governor.

Obiano explained this on Wednesday, during the 2021 Public Service Day Celebration, held at the Jerome Udeorji Secretariat Complex, in Awka, the state capital.

He said his support for Soludo who is borne out of his pedigree and the confidence in his ability to develop and manage Anambra resources.

The governor assured that the flag bearer of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), in Saturday’s governorship election in the state, would perform better than other candidates, if elected.

Responding, the State Head of Service, Harry Uduh, noted that Obiano has kept faith with Anambra workers since inception of his administration.

He pointed out that the governor has been consistent with payment of salaries, pensions, leave allowances, periodic civil service trainings among other incentives.

On his part, APGA candidate, Soludo, described civil servants as the foundation of every government.

Soludo promised to build on the foundation laid by Governor Obiano for consolidation and continuity.

He added that if elected, he would implement salary and other payments adjustments, once the finances of the state could carry the adjustment

He, therefore, urged the workers to come out and exercise their franchise in Saturday’s election which he said is very critical to the progress and development of the state.

Meanwhile, the State government has declared Thursday and Friday as work-free days in the state.

Governor Obiano while announcing the holiday, said it would enable the people travel to their respective voting areas and prepare themselves for Saturday’s governorship election.

While commending the workers for the cooperation between them and his administration, he urged them to moblise their neighbours for the election as it must hold, stressing that he has fulfilled his promises to them and added more.
