Plateau Crisis We May Evacuate Benue Students In Jos – Ortom

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has expressed his readiness to evacuate citizens of his State who are studying in Plateau following the crisis currently rocking the state.

Ortom gave the assurance on Wednesday while briefing newsmen in Makurdi the state capital.

Africa Daily News, New York recalls that travellers from Bauchi State were during the weekend, attacked and murdered by some assailants yet to be identified.

Killings in the State have become very rampant in the last few days.

Following the Saturday massacre, the management of the University of Jos announced the suspension of its ongoing second-semester examinations over the fear of attacks.

Despite the closure of the school, Africa Daily News, New York reports that some students were stranded in the area following the curfew imposed on some local government by the state government as a measure to curtail the security situation.

However, Governor Ortom while fielding questions from journalists on the fate of Benue indigenes schooling at Plateau State, said his administration was closely monitoring the situation.

He assured that his government is currently in touch with relevant authorities to ensure that the students were safe, adding that the State Government would not hesitate to evacuate the students.
