The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the last governorship election in Ondo State, Mr Eyitayo Jegede, has stated that he will claim his mandate at the election’s petition tribunal sitting in the state.

Jegede made this known in Akure during the inauguration of the party’s reconstructed secretariat burnt down during the #EndSARS protests in Nigeria and was rebuilt by one of the party governorship aspirants, Godday Erewa.

Jegede confidently made it clear that he would become the Governor of the state, claiming that all evidence before the election petition tribunal was enough to send the APC government away from the Alagbaka Government House.

The PDP candidate further stated that the Governor and his party, the APC, are ‘jittery’ and that PDP will soon take over the leadership mantle of Ondo state.

Reacting to the statement by Jegede, the All Progressive Congress (APC) said Jegede’s boast was a mere daydream. They further stated that the party will remain in government.

According to the party’s Director of Media and Publicity, Mr Steve Otaloro, the case presented by Jegede at the tribunal lacks merit and is not substantial enough to give him victory. The APC stalwart further urged the PDP and its candidate to wait for the tribunal to give its verdict.
