NAFDAC Seizes ₦350K Worth Of Fake Hand Sanitisers In Bauchi

The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Bauchi State Office, says it has seized cartons of fake hand sanitizers worth ₦350,000 in some supermarkets and drug retail outlets in the state.

The NAFDAC State Coordinator, Mr Mohammed Muazu, disclosed this to newsmen in Bauchi on Thursday saying the items were confiscated after a raid was carried out on shops, NAN reports.

Muazu said out of 13 brands of the fake sanitizers, 11 were manufactured in Kano State while two were produced in Bauchi state

According to him, the agency had commenced an investigation to trace the manufacturers.

He, however, urged the public to be mindful of NAFDAC and Batch Numbers, Manufacturing and Expiry dates of food, drugs and medical consumables.

‘The general public should understand that quality of hand sanitizers not registered by NAFDAC cannot be guaranteed, and the aim will not be achieved’, he said.
