NAFDAC Alerts Nigerians As US Places Sanitisers On Watch List

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has warned Nigerians to be cautious while buying food and drug.

Director of Public Affairs, Jimoh Abubakar, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday.

He stated that all regulated products, including food, drugs, medical items and packaged water must be licensed.

Emphasisng on NAFDAC registration number, Abubakar told citizens to look out for labelling requirements.

“Examine the content of the product, the seal of authority or the approved registration number from NAFDAC,” he said.

The spokesman explained that NAFDAC puts every product through laboratory analysis and certain compendium references before
certification.

“We to look at the whole process of good manufacturing practice, the location and all factors put together to certify a product,” he added.

Abubakar, however, vowed that those enageged in fake registration would be arrested and prosecuted.
