Today 17th of June was the official flagging-off of the economic stimulus package programme in Imo State. 3,500 beneficiaries drawn from the 27 Local Government Areas of the State, by the Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, at the Ahiajoku Convention Centre Owerri.

Some senior government officials ranging from the Comissioners, to Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants where spotted at this monumental event. The Capacity Building Programme is being organized by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and NIRSAL, in collaboration with the Imo State Government, for business support and Recovery Loan Scheme, designed for Cottage Industries and Cooperatives. The training/workshop, will be organized simultaneously in the 3 Senatorial Zones, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry led by Honourable Commissioner, Barr. Kingsley Ononuju.

According to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Diaspora Affairs, Hon. Cllr Osakwe-Hibbert who attended with some other Government Officials, she stated that “Imo State Government under Sen. Hope Uzodinma has kickstarted a remarkable people-focused project and of course there’s need for Diaspora Organisations or Diaspora Individuals to come through with complimentary projects in order to create even further opportunities for the populace. She called on Imo Indigenes living especially in America and Asia to key in and leverage the Diaspora resources to better their home state of Imo.

Hon. Cllr Osakwe-Hibbert was seen in what seemed to be a very serious official conversation with the Comissioner of Finance, Hon. Chuck Chukwuemeka and Head of Investment, Hon. Jude Nzeakor.
