NECO Vindicates Ifeanyi Ubah

The Senator representing Anambra South senatorial district in the Senate in the person of Dr Patric Ifeanyi Uba has been finally vindicated on the allegation hanging on his neck as it concerns his O’level Certificate submitted to INEC.

 

It will be recalled that a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) high court in Kubwa, Abuja made ruling against the Capital Oil, ordering INEC to withdraw the certificate of return given to him and issue same to Dr Obinna Uzor who approached the court with a suite that he be declared the authentic senator on the ground that Senator Ifeanyi Ubah ran with a forged certificate. The judgment  was given in favour of Obinna Uzor by Justice Bello Kawu of Federal capital Territory High Court in Kubwa, Abuja. This ruling that nullified the election of Ifeanyi Ubah as the senator representing Anambra south was given based on the allegation of he submitting a forged NECO , National Examination Commission,  certificate to INEC. But in a the recent statement released by NECO which is the examination board in charge of O’level examination in Nigeria affirmed the authenticity of the certificate..

Meanwhile the senator has earlier approached an appeal court to challenge the judgement after his move set aside the judgement was denied by the court who reaffirming it. earlier ruling sacking the senator.

According to report, NECO in a letter addressed to Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA and Young Progressives Party, YPP the party of the senator, stated that the certificate which Senator Dr Ifeanyi Ubah submitted to INEC is not forged and that it was issued by the Council. The letter was in response to a letter written by the duo of HURIWA and YPP in other to ascertain the truth as relates to the court judgement which is based on forging of certificate. The letter was signed by Comfort L. Kolo, Esq who is NECO Head of Department, Legal & Board Affairs.

The organization went further to reveal that the Senator sat for 8 subjects, had 7 credits (Cs) and one fail (F).

As the matter is the court of Appeal one will wait to see the final outcome of the case as the onus will be on Dr Obinna Uzor to prove that Dr Ifeanyi Ubah’ certificate was forged.
