Over 300 Nigerian returnees from South Africa are arriving at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos today.

The first of the two batches would touch down at 1:00 p.m.

No fewer than 640 Nigerians fleeing xenophobic attacks in the former apartheid nation are returning home following Air Peace’s offer to bring them free of charge.

Sources yesterday confirmed that a Boeing777 aircraft at 9:30 p.m. departed Lagos for the six-hour flight to Oliver Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg for the exercise.

Spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), southwest Zone, Ibrahim Farinloye, also confirmed the development.

He told The Guardian that the process was being handled by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission. (The Guardian)
