NCC laments rise in Cyber Crimes

The Executive Vice Chairman of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Garba Dambatta, has lamented rising cases of cybercrime and e-fraud in the country using telecommunications platforms, saying it poses a serious challenge to the Commission.

Speaking during NCC Special Day at the ongoing 30th Enugu International Trade Fair, Dambatta explained that cybercrime consists of illegal activities conducted on a computer or mobile device connected to the Internet.

“The Commission advises all our consumers not to open email that is unfamiliar and also note that banks will not request personal information over the Internet. In the event that this unfortunate circumstance should take place, call your bank immediately to freeze the affected accounts.
