According to the Paris prosecutor’s office, a body was discovered on Tuesday by French emergency workers amidst the debris of a Paris building. The building’s facade had collapsed in an explosion the previous week. The emergency workers are currently engaged in the task of extracting the remains and determining the identity of the individual.

This grim discovery indicates how fatal the explosion was. Also, the blast caused severe injuries to six individuals and left over 50 others with milder injuries or psychological trauma, as reported by the Paris prosecutor.

For several days, authorities had tirelessly combed through the debris, desperately searching for an individual who had been reported missing since the tragic explosion on June 21. The arduous search operation encountered additional obstacles, as the looming threat of a neighboring building collapsing heightened the risks involved.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the identity of the body unearthed on Tuesday remains shrouded in uncertainty. The ongoing investigations persistently strive to unravel the mystery and establish the true identity of the person who met such a tragic fate.

The prosecutor’s office has revealed that following the discovery, the initial inquiry into the incident has broadened to include the possibility of pressing manslaughter charges. Authorities are currently delving into whether the explosion resulted from a deliberate infringement of safety regulations. Among the various theories being explored, a potential gas leak is under scrutiny.

The city of Paris is renowned for its historic charm, but its infrastructure, which can sometimes be aging, has experienced intermittent gas explosions in the past. In the 5th district of the city, a blast occurred last week near the prestigious Val de Grace military hospital, leading to the collapse of a building housing a private academy of design and arts. The incident caused considerable damage to the structure’s facade.
