The Governor Sanwo-Olu led Government of Lagos State has finally given out a directive that openly mandated all the schools in the State to resume the 2022/2023 academic year on the 5th of September, 2022.

This directive had been confirmed in a statement on Saturday which had also been issued by the Director-General, Office of Education Quality Assurance of the state, Abiola Seriki-Ayeni.

According to Seriki-Ayeni, the date for their resumption had also been approved by the Commissioner for Education in the state, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo.

“All schools below tertiary level in Lagos State are mandated to resume for First Term on Monday, September 5, 2022, as stated in the 2022/2023 Harmonised Academic Calendar as approved by the Honourable Commissioner for Education Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo.

“The academic calendar prioritises standardised learning days and schools are to ensure strict compliance for the delivery of quality and sustainable education in Lagos State,” it read in part.

The statement added that students and staff “are expected to adhere to health and safety protocols” when they resume.

In another report, Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) has lambasted the Lagos State Government over the implementation of the setback parking levy in the state describing the move as illegal.

Following the enactment of the setback parking levy by the Lagos State Government, Human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN), has criticised the administration for such rule describing it as unlawful.

On Sunday, Falana referred to the practice as unlawful and demanded that the state government immediately discontinue it.

In a letter to the food and snack company which was obtained by Africa Daily News, New York, the Lagos State Parking Authority declared that it had taxed the company N290,000 for the car park outside the vicinity of the company.

The food companies, according to directives from the letter issued, were requested to pay N80,000 yearly for the parking lots, also a non-refundable administrative processing fee of N50,000 was requested.
