Reports reaching the desk of Africa Daily News, New York has it that a British man who is volunteering as a medic the ongoing war in Ukraine has been reportedly killed on duty.

Craig Mackintosh, who hails from Thetford, Norfolk, was killed while in the line of duty – this happened on the 24th of August – Lorna Mackintosh confirmed.

Meanwhile, in an effort to transport her brother’s body home, Ms. Mackintosh raised over £5,000 on a GoFundMe page appealing to people to ‘Please help us bring this war hero home.’

According to the Foreign Office, the family is being supported.

Ms. Mackintosh wrote on the GoFundMe saying: ‘Our brother bravely volunteered to go to [Ukraine] as a medic to help save lives in this war-torn country.

‘This selfless man is currently stranded in a morgue in Ukraine and there is no help to get him home.’

According to her, the repatriation of he brother’s corpses would cost around £4,000

‘We have spoken to an international funeral provider and it’s going to cost around £4,000 to have him repatriated back to the UK,’ she noted.

‘He gave his life to save others and he needs to come back home to have the service he deserves.’

‘A true hero’s service surrounded by his family and friends. Please, please help to bring our hero home.’

As of Thursday morning, the family had raised over $5,000, surpassing its target.

A Foreign Office spokesperson said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Ukraine and is in contact with the local authorities.”

As the family grieves and are preparing to transport their hero back home sympathizer from around the country has consoled the family for their loss. The Authorities claimed to have given support to the family amid the crisis.
