In a fresh report gotten by Africa Daily News, New York, the Lagos State Police Command has debunked and downplayed the alleged viral WhatsApp voice-note claiming Fulanis have invaded Badagry in Lagos.

The statement read, “The attention of the Command has been drawn to a viral WhatsApp voice-note claiming that Fulanis have camped in Muhammadu Buhari Estate, Agemowo, Badagry in readiness for a massive attack on Badagry.

“The Command wishes to state in unequivocal terms that the content of the voice-note is entirely false and mischievously designed to cause unnecessary panic within Lagos State.

“It’s worthy of note that there is a Police Division close to the estate – Morogbo Division.”

Hundeyin added that in a bid to be double sure that the claims were false, the Divisional Police Officer of Morogbo revisited the estate again on Wednesday, inspected the entire facility and had an exhaustive session with the Facility Manager.

He said that the result of the operational visit lent credence to the futility of the voice note.

According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos Command, Mr Abiodun Alabi, enjoined residents to disregard the attack claim.

In another report, A Dei-Dei Grade I Area Court in Abuja on Thursday, ordered that a 39-year-old businessman, Nicholas Nelson be remanded in a correctional centre for allegedly defrauding his customer of N1.4 million.

The police charged the defendant who resides in Suleja Niger State, with criminal breach of trust and cheating.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The judge, Sulyman Ola, ordered that the defendant be remanded in the Nigerian Correctional Service facility in Suleja, until Aug. 23.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Chinedu Ogada told the court that the complainant, Khalid Ibrahim of No 38 Petan Crescent Dakwa Abuja, reported the matter at the Zuba Police Station on June 4.

Ogada said that the complainant gave the defendant N1.4million to supply him chickens.

He said that the defendant collected the money and dishonestly refused to supply the chickens to the complainant.

The prosecutor also told the court during police investigation, the defendant could not give a satisfactory account of his actions.

Ogada further state that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
