In response to the rising spate of insecurity in the region, some southern Kaduna Christian leaders have convened a general meeting to ponder on the issues surrounding the incessant attacks in the area, and to provide a clear direction to their people on the way out of the crisis.

The Christian leaders met under the auspices of the Southern Kaduna Christian Leaders Association (SKCLA) ahead of the forthcoming Southern Kaduna Prayer Summit for peace.

Addressing participants at the meeting, Chairman of the association, Apostle Emmanuel Kure, said the community had waited too long for direction and guidance from it’s leaders amidst the security challenges.

“We believe there is a Godly wisdom out there that can break this siege and help our people out of this grave season.

“We need to decide our priorities at this hour, both for the land, the people, and the Southern Kaduna Christian Leaders Association,” he added.

Kure urged the participants to be frank in their submissions and suggest practical ways of resolving the security problems bedeviling the zone.

He also enjoined them to work out ways of enhancing the economic growth of the area and its people.

Kure thanked the participants for honoring the invitation, in spite of the short notice, noting that their sacrifices showed that they had the zone’s best interest at heart.

In another report, the Kaduna State Police have reported that their operatives killed one bandit and arrested six suspected bandits on Monday in Unguwan Haske village in Kauru Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesman, ASP Mohammed Jalige, stated that the encounter followed tipoff that some suspected cattle rustlers were in the village making suspicious purchases of airtime and some consumables at about 10 p.m.

He stated that the police immediately deployed operatives and members of a vigilance group to the village to accost the suspects.

He explained the suspects opened fire on the operatives on sight and the commensurate response they got from the law enforcement agents lead to the death of one of them.

“One of the bandits was neutralised while six others were apprehended,’’ he stated.

Jalige added that one AK47 rifle loaded with one round of live 7.62 X 39mm ammunition, 130 heads of cattle and 80 sheep were recovered from the group.
