Plane Crashes With 11 People Onboard In Cameroon

A plane carrying 11 people crashed in a forest in central Cameroon on Wednesday, Africa Daily News, New York has gathered.

According to reports, a major storm hit Cameroon’s capital, Yaoundé, in the afternoon of Wednesday, causing the plane to lose signal after it took off from the city’s Nsimalen airport.

This was confirmed by Cameroon’s Transport Minister, Ernest Ngalle Bibehe confirmed in a statement that air traffic control lost contact with the plane.

The statement partly read, ‘Air traffic controllers lost radio contact with the aircraft’ which was later ‘located in the forest’ near Nanga Eboko, around 150 kilometres (90 miles) northeast of the capital Yaounde.’

Meanwhile, It is said to be unlikely that any of the 11 survived after the plane went down near Nanga Eboko, Centre Province in Cameroon.

Cameroon24 reported that the crash which occurred at around 2 pm on Wednesday, left no survivors; however, there has been no official confirmation from the Ministry.

A list of the names of those onboard has been released which includes, ‘Dicka Endalle Estelle, Kesseng Jean Charles, Pewite Nkwenti Serge, Tchehou Tchakounte Serge, Asu Rudolf, Baban Andre, Kouayep Armand, Ndanjo Gadinga Celetsine Tchatua Ernest.’

Africa Daily News, New York recalls that a few weeks back, a plane carrying 14 people crashed somewhere around the Indian Ocean archipelago in Comoros.

Africa Daily News, New York had reported that the airline AB Aviation had earlier raised alarm that its small Cessna plane had disappeared from the radar about 2.5 kilometres (1.6 miles) from its destination during a flight between the capital Moroni and the city of Fomboni on the island of Moheli on Friday.

In a statement which was sighted by Africa Daily News, New York, the Comorian transport ministry explained that they were doing everything possible to recover the plane wreckage and the bodies of the passengers, they said; ‘Search operations… have begun to find the aircraft’s debris in the coastal area of Djoiezi confirming the crash,’

The Comorian government has also reacted revealing that the 12 passengers were Comorian and that the two pilots were Tanzanian.
