Ukrainian Forces Regain Control Over Some Places In Kyiv

Odesa, Ukraine‘s strategically important port hub on the Black Sea coast, has been rocked by a series of explosions in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The Odesa city council said a missile attack has targeted an infrastructure structure. It reported smoke billowing into the sky and reporters in the area reported seeing smoke billowing into the sky.

In his latest address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russian forces want to take control of the east and south of the country.

He also stated that Ukrainian forces had taken back control of communities in Kyiv and Chernihiv.

“What is the goal of Russian troops? They want to capture both Donbas and the south of Ukraine. What is our goal? Protect us, our freedom, our land and our people,”  Zelenskyy declared in his latest speech.

The Ukrainian forces have retaken control over Kyiv and Chernihiv, but the Russians are preparing to increase pressure in the east.

Zelenskky said: “We are strengthening our defenses in the eastern direction and in Donbas”.

Invading forces are shifting their attention to southeastern Ukraine in the past week, which has prompted the increase in Russian air activity.

Africa Daily News, New York  reports that Ukrainian air defense units cannot be located and destroyed by Russian aircraft and helicopters, the air defense capability continues to pose an important challenge to Russian aircraft.

Kyiv was retaken by Ukraine for the first time since the Russian invasion started.

Even as Russia withdraws, it has left behind heavy damage, wrecked tanks, destroyed buildings, and dead bodies. The retreat has been described as a symbolic peace effort by Russia.

Despite the departure of Russian forces from parts of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that dangers remain in the country on Saturday. He said some troops who were withdrawing laid mines and booby traps.
