The Federal Government on Wednesday, declared that it has solved the power outage being experienced across the country following Tuesday’s blackout.

Meanwhile, the apex government blamed pipeline vandalisation, grid collapses among other challenges as causes of the recurrent nationwide blackout.

The Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu, made this disclosure while briefing State House Correspondents after the week’s virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

‘We have recovered the grid now. The grid is back and we are trying to get more megawatts to push on the grid. We have set up small committees all geared towards getting more megawatts to put on the grid,‘ he told reporters.

Meanwhile, Africa Daily News, New York had earlier reported that President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on Digital and New Media, Bashir Ahmad had blamed the collapse of the national grid to the former Government of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) maintaining that power has improved under Buhari’s administration contrary to wide insinuations.

He explained that the collapse of the power grid was caused by a weak transmission system which was inherited from the previous administration.

In a tweet, the Presidential aide recalled that Nigeria experienced four collapses in 2020 and 42 in 2010.

According to Ahmad: ‘When we’re ready to have this convo, we’ll know that the power sector has improved under this administration.

‘Grid collapse is usually caused by a weak transmission system (inherited). Intensive work being done to fix that is obvious. We had 4 collapses in 2020, we recorded 42 in 2010.’

Africa Daily News, New York recalls that the national grid had collapsed at 10.40 a.m on Monday resulting in blackouts in some parts of the country.

Barely 24 hours later, some parts of the country were on Tuesday thrown into darkness following another system collapse.
