The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Thursday advised residents to build in accordance with the territory’s urban and regional plan to avoid altering the Abuja Master Plan.

Mr. Ikharo Attah, Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Monitoring, Inspection, and Enforcement, who gave the advice during an interactive session with newsmen in Abuja, said the FCTA would not hesitate to bring down any illegal structure.

‘I am making a fundamental appeal to residents of the Federal Capital Territory to work in accordance with the urban and regional planning act. This will help those of us on the enforcement team.’

‘I will be strict with enforcement because we need to own our city, and the task given to me is a tripartite one; Monitoring, Inspection and Enforcement” so with this, we will be looking at the territory in its entirety.’

‘I will ensure that contractors deliver good and quality services for our money. It is a multi-tasking job.’

‘I have been working since 2019 as Chairman, Traffic Management Team, COVID-19 Enforcement, and Chairman City Sanitation. For me, it is just like going back to work.,’ Attah said.

Attah also cautioned the public against building on waterways, flood-prone areas, as well as erecting shanties and illegal structures.
