A court in Morocco have reportedly sentenced an Italian-Moroccan woman to three and a half years in prison for insulting Islam.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that she was jailed after she shared a post on Facebook of a satirical text imitating Quranic verse.

The father of the 23-year-old woman says that she was arrested at the airport in the capital, Rabat, on her return from France where she was studying.

A religious association in Marrakesh instigated the case against her by making a complaint to the authorities.
