The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday warned the Federal Government against jerking up the pump price of petrol.

‘With an honest and transparent administration of our national production capacity and potentialities, domestic price of fuel should not exceed ₦70 per litre’, the opposition stated.

National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, said any contemplation to increase price would worsen economic conditions.

The Petroleum Products Pricing Regulation Agency (PPPRA), Thursday night, released a template which showed at a litre would cost between ₦209 to ₦212 for March.

Following nationwide outrage, the agency and the government made a U-turn and suggested it was an error.

The PDP stressed that N212 was not in the best interest of Nigerians grappling with COVID-19 effects.

The spokesman said any increase would be unacceptable as over 100 million citizens live in abject poverty.

Ologbondiyan advised the Buhari administration to save the nation by ending every increment contemplation, adding that Nigerians expect a downward review in prices.
