A 200-level Human Anatomy student of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Esther Okeke, has won the Dr Chinedu Umeadi Foundation’s Essay Competition for undergraduates.

The competition was organised for students in the seven Local Government Area of Anambra Central Senatorial District.

Okeke defeated 3000 others to emerge winner in the essay competition, titled, ‘Governance in Nigeria: How the Youths Can Get Involved.’

She was given a scholarship by the foundation to finish her course and a cash prize of N200,000.

The president of the foundation, Ikem Onwuadi, said the competition would become an annual event that would create consciousness of a better society and reorientation for the youths.

A former vice-chancellor of UNIZIK, Prof Pita Ejiofor, who chaired the occasion expressed optimism that the participants would advance the solutions they suggested in their essays, thereby becoming beacons for change.

He urged all tiers of government to create platforms that would give the youth a sense of belonging and participation
