Luanda — The docking of cruise ships in the country, like the cruise ship “Seabourne”, which docked last Tuesday at the Port of Luanda, contributes to the dissemination of the image of Angola in the world, said the national director of tourism and reserves, Lukene Araújo.

Speaking right after the docking of the vessel, the director of Seabourne underlined that cruise ships foster development of the national tourism and help to attract new investors to the country.
Seabourne is an American ship, which came from South African with 397 tourists on board, from 21 different nationalities, most of them American.
For Lukene Araújo, the arrival of cruise ships to the country is an indication that Angola is on the sea route of companies and arousing the interest of foreign tourists, which is healthy, since tourism discloses the country’s potential.
He acknowledged that the tourism sector in Angola faces several difficulties, and the capture of more investments and the establishment of policies capable of attracting credible partnerships are part of the current needs, which can be minimized with activities of the kind.
On his turn, the director-general of the travel agency “TravelGest”, José Cabral, stressed that despite the difficulties, tourism plays a central role in the development of the Angolan economy, as there is sufficient potential to leverage this industry and collect revenues, with the participation of foreign entrepreneurs.
On the occasion, a tourist from the United States of America, Amber Lima Jason, stressed that she enjoyed getting to know Angola and find out that the country has enough potential to grow when in tourism and other aspects.
A Multi-Sectoral Technical Support Committee for ships that is coordinated by the Ministry of Tourism, in partnership with Travelgest, welcomed the visitors. “Seabourne” already visited the country in 2014. It is the 38th cruise ship to dock in Angola, since October 2012, within the scope of promoting national tourism.
