This Jeff Bezos drama gets richer and richer.
The world’s wealthiest man was sued by his girlfriend’s brother Friday, Fox Business reported. Michael Sanchez, older brother of former Bezos mistress and current Bezos girlfriend Lauren Sanchez, is suing the Amazon founder for defamation.
In the lawsuit, Michael Sanchez says Bezos accused him of leaking nude pictures to the National Enquirer, and that the accusation is false and has damaged his reputation, according to Fox Business.
Sanchez has consistently denied being the source of the leaked nudes, but basically everyone else involved in the scandal has blamed him, including his sister Lauren.
“Michael is my older brother. He secretly provided my most personal information to the National Enquirer — a deep and unforgivable betrayal,” Lauren Sanchez said in a statement to TMZ. “My family is hurting over this new baseless and untrue lawsuit.”
The Enquirer first reported the affair between Bezos and Lauren Sanchez in January 2019 and has not revealed its source, but a lawyer for the Enquirer’s parent company did say, “It was a source that was well known both to Mr. Bezoss and Ms. Sanchez.”
Gavin de Becker, Bezos’s private investigator, told the Daily Beast that Michael Sanchez was “among the people” he’d investigated for leaking the pictures.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Manhattan prosecutors have evidence that Michael Sanchez gave the texts to the Enquirer.
Bezos was married to his wife MacKenzie at the time the affair was revealed. The couple, who married in 1993 and have four children together, divorced in April 2019.
