We are in the festive period, this is the time people travel most to see their loved ones, time to bound and keep up with friends and families. As significant as this period is, it is important to note that not only will the road be busy especially those coming from Lagos, Abuja and other urban places, this is also when we record high cases of accident and kidnapping on the highway.

The Nigeria Police Public Relations Department in its bid to inform and sensitize the public has come out to list ways to have a safe trip, especially for the travellers.

– Avoid night journey
– Avoid over-speeding
– Be on your seat belt while driving
– Avoid overloading
– Avoid stopping on lonely roads
– Avoid taking or giving free rides to passengers
– Don’t drink and drive.

Life they say is precious and it’s only when one is alive that he can celebrate Christmas and the New Year. Drive responsibly and please be safe.
