There is this age long maxim that says ‘Success without a successor is failure in disguise’. Today, this wise saying is being made manifest in Anambra state as the good people of the state have continued to bemoan what they refer to as unfortunate taking back to Egypt by this current Administration.

Recall that the immediate past governor of the state, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi recorded tremendous success in almost all facets of development within his eight years tenure. Obi in his days employed and appointed the finest of technocrats to work with, and together they formulated the developmental blueprint known as ANAMBRA INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY (ANIDS). With this initiative, every sector of the state saw a massive face lift in terms of development.

Through ANIDS, Peter Obi re-positioned the education sector by rehabilitating schools, donating brand new buses, computer systems, library and laboratory equipment to ALL primary and secondary schools within the state. This singular gesture by the governor transformed into a huge opportunity for excellence, as most secondary schools in the state became national and international spotlights.

He gave hope to the sick, nursing mothers and infants by rebuilding and improving the service deliveries in the state owned hospitals, maternity and colleges of midwifery.

Through ANIDS, strong, quality, durable and standard road networks were contracted and built by the Obi administration.

Unfortunately, Willie Obiano came in and for reasons best known to him, refused to acknowledge and continue on the developmental pace already set by his predecessor. The total neglect and negligence of his state duties has inadvertently plunged the state back to the dark ages, or what most people will refer to as the ‘Mbadinuju days‘.

With Peter Obi, schools in Anambra state topped the list in external examinations like WAEC and NECO, but such can no longer be said now of our schools. The total neglect by the current governor is telling on every arm of the state.

As at this morning, Ndi Anambra woke up to the ridiculous jamboree of road rehabilitation using ordinary concrete and sands. It is laughable that a governor who has not done any major road project in over four years, cannot even do a good road reconstruction. The road in question is a busy and major road located along Aroma junction Awka. It is therefore a mediocre joke from the governor not to deploy commensurate resources to fix the dilapidating road networks within his state.

The people of the state have called on the governor to kindly leave them at the exact spot Peter left them instead of taking them back to where they used to be before Peter.
