Recently, most of the major political parties in Nigeria demonstrated to Imolites that their love for money and material things was way bigger than their love for the future of the country. They did this through the quality of candidates they settled for ahead of the November gubernatorial election.
The emergence of the incumbent Governor Hope Uzodinma as the candidate of Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Athan Achonu as the candidate of the rave of the moment, Labour Party has in no small measures dampened the political mood of Ndi Imo and th reasons are not far-fetched.
The three men are not unknown to Imo State. They are allies and political friends who incidentally emerged as the three Senators that represented Imo State in the 8th Assembly. Available records suggest that the trio till date, holds the ugly record of being the worst class of legislators Imo State has every m had. Their sojourn in the red chambers of the National Assembly delivered mediocrity to Ndi Imo by every metric or method of appraisal. When compared viz-a-viz their counterparts from other states, they sponsored the fewest bills and were always lost whenever matters of strategic importance to the South East and by extension, Imo State was being discussed.
Thankfully, for one reason or the other, none of the trio returned to the National Assembly to continue to the show of shame.

In 2019, one of the three musketeers, Hope Uzodinma deployed his notorious ‘Ben Johnson’ tactic and found himself in the Imo government house using the instrumentality of the stinking Nigerian judiciary. Expectedly, Uzodinma has only managed to enthrone a culture of Impunity, bad leadership and corruption over the last three years.
Under his leadership, Ndi Imo now wet their pillows with tears every night in hopelessness and complete abandonment. He has turned several parts of the state into a theatre of absurdities where criminals now reign supreme.
As Chief security officer of the state, Uzodinma doesn’t have a problem with relocating to Abuja to play politics while Imo groans under the strong weight of existential insecurity.
Over the last three years, it has been a government of the more you look, the less you see. Uzodinma has continued to insult the sensibilities of Ndi Imo with worthless propaganda which he dishes out without caution. To further drive down his disdainful initiatives, he has been on a prowl, acquiring political jobbers and buccaneers to help him spread propaganda.
Uzodinma has tried unsuccessfully to hide his penchant for abuse of power and due process on many occasions and the experiences has been shameful. Some time in 2020, Uzodinma had the temerity to inform Ndi Imo that the governorship seat he acquired in 2020 cannot be taken away from him! That statement did not come as a suprise to many people because this was the same Governor that not too long ago announced to Ndi Imo that he is ‘Ikiri’ a confidence of power of a sitting Governor.
Sen. Uzodinma believes that he is the only man that has two testicles in his scrotum, other men in Imo state have no single testis. In his mall mindedness, he believes everyone is a commodity that can be acquired at will.
Ahead of the upcoming elections, Uzodinma is not prepared to campaign because he has already concluded his demonic plans to win again by hook or by crook. Uzodinma has not hidden the fact that he is a product an old dilapidated system that encourages mediocres like him who has never won any free and fair in his life!
Having lost the trust and confidence of Ndigbo, Uzodinma now boasts with Impunity that on his guber re-election bid, ‘Ego ka o ga eri.’ Alas! The era of ‘etie okwe erie okwe’ is here!
Ndi-Imo must now reali#e now that their collective dream for a prosperous and liveable Imo Has Been Destroyed in this bid! The Hope and Dream of Imo electorates has been destroyed by few ‘Guymen’ who recycle political positions among themselves!
Contrary to what Imolites have erroneously made themselves to believe, these political bandiat have sent their political Kingpins to frontline political parties, putting their trust and confidence in the hands of Athan Achonu (LP), Samuel Anyanwu (PDP) and Hope Uzodinma (APC). There are very serious causes to believe that these politicians were sent to these parties by Uzodinma to smoothen the race for him.
Ndi Imo must avoid the trio because having any of them in Douglas House is a dream they will never wake from if they mistakenly venture into it! It’s like gathering water in a basket! A futile and regrettable venture! It is nothing but a well crafted political manipulation scheme where the three ‘Guymen’ grabbed the Governorship ticket of three Frontline political parties.
Imolites should not for any reason allow the phenomenon of selling Dog to buy monkey happen in Imo State. Regardless of how one decides to look at both animals, they all squat. Ndi Imo must realise that none of these scammers have anything to offer them!
Ndi Imo must now come to the realisation that their desperation which they often betray is simply a means to become a leech on Imo State treasury. They must not allow the conglomeration of conmen, swindlers, mountebanks, bilkers, fleecers, sharpie and flimflammers that are merely positioning themselves to use another four years loot the state mindlessly.
Imolites must look beyond the trio for someone with the right mindset, the shared vision, the tenacity, the strength of character and the required integrity to turn the state around.
Uzodinma and his cohorts must be shown that Imo State is not a conquered territory where a glutinous few run the show. Just like Bob Marley once said, you can deceive some people some time, but you can not deceive all the people all the time. These games must end!
