Contrary to the reports making the rounds on social media that the anchors of Sunrise Daily’s anchors on Channels TV have been arrested, Africa Daily News, New York has gathered that no such arrests were made.

The media outfit on Friday morning put out the clarification on social media categorically stating no such arrest was made.

The media outfit pointed out that the entire anchors were invited for a meeting by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) in Abuja and they have since returned from that meeting.

In a related development, the Department of State Services (DSS) on Thursday clarified that Channels television’s anchors invited by the secret service in earlier stories on social media are false and grossly misleading.

DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, made the clarification via a statement sighted by Africa Daily News, New York warning purveyors of such to desist forthwith.

‘The attention of the DSS has been drawn to news making the rounds in some sections of the media that its operatives earlier today (26th August, 2021) arrested two (2) journalists of Channels Television. This is false and misleading. Fake news peddlers should shun the act,’ the statement read.
