The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II yesterday informed the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Abubakar Atiku that only God will decide who Nigeria’s next president will be.

The Monarch made this known when he received Atiku and his team at his palace ahead of his campaign rally at Edo State.

The monarch wished Atiku well in his aspirations to lead the country and charged him to fulfill his campaign promises if he given the mandate to lead.

‘Your Excellency, we have been following your statements and assurances, we pray to God Almighty and our ancestors that you have good health, wisdom to bring it to fruition, should you be the chosen one to lead this Country.

He further added; ‘We have you in our prayers, no doubt, we will keep on praying to God Almighty to select who will lead this country. I do not see reasons why we should doubt anyone of you.’

Earlier, Atiku described the Oba of Benin as one of the foremost fathers who has a lot to contribute to the smooth transition of the next democratic government.

‘You preside over a very ancient and historical kingdom. There is no way we can come to Edo State without paying a courtesy call. Therefore, let me thank you on behalf of members in this delegation for granting us audience and we also seek your prayers for peaceful transition in our Country, unity, peace and prosperity.’

Meanwhile, Atiku has described as destroyers, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), adding that they don’t deserve to be voted.

Atiku, who made this known while addressing party supporters in Benin, Edo State, yesterday during his party’s presidential rally, called on the people of the state to continue to be loyal to the PDP saying that the party has a better package for them.

He said the APC has destroyed the educational system, economy, infrastructure and failed to address the security challenges facing the country.
