Former Governor of Enugu State and current Senator representing Enugu East in the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani has lent his voice to the call for inclusiveness, justice, equity, and fairness, saying they are the needed ingredients for peace, unity, and progress of Nigeria.

According to him, peace and unity are the products of justice, fairness, and equity.

In a goodwill message to Nigerians which was obtained by Africa Daily News, New York, Nnamani called on leaders at all levels, to make the citizens the centre of their programmes and policies.

As campaigns for the 2023 general elections gather momentum, he urged public office seekers to put the unity and peace of Nigeria above personal ambitions.

The Senator cautioned against resorting to issues like ethnic or religious affiliation during campaigns that may put asunder the cohesion and corporate existence of the country, pointing out that there must be a country before personal ambition could be realised.

He said all hands must be on deck to build a national cohesion that guarantees true freedom and well-being of all.

He also harped on the need to strengthen the security architecture of the country, pointing out that an unsecured nation can neither assure the safety of its citizens nor engender the growth and development the country.

Senator Nnamani lamented that virtually every part of the country is under siege, threatened by terrorists and bandits, saying, “No one is truly safe in his or her home, schools, worship centres, places of work and on the roads anymore.”

Canvassing for free, fair and credible elections, he reiterated that efforts must be geared towards security to guarantee unhindered or unimpeded conduct at the forthcoming polls.

He also urged the political class and all stakeholders to abide by the rules of the game to ensure that the 2023 elections produce the choice of the people.

He wishes Nigerians a happy independence celebration.
