At the end of his mission, the United States ambassador in Moscow, John Sullivan has finally departed Russia on Sunday after he had declared that he has completed his diplomatic term there, the embassy had revealed in a recently released statement.

The 62-year-old Sullivan had been appointed ambassador to Moscow in December 2019.

“Following his departure, he will retire from a career in public service that has spanned four decades and five US presidents,” the embassy said in a press release.

“Elizabeth Rood will assume duties as Charge d’Affaires at US Embassy Moscow until Ambassador Sullivan’s successor arrives.”

The embassy did not give further details about his mission.

Sullivan had also been assistant secretary of state under the presidency of Donald Trump and had also held several senior positions in the justice, defence, and commerce ministries throughout his career.

His departure is also coming at a time when relations between the United States and Russia are at their lowest point since the Cold War.

In another report, Amb. Dandela Abdulrahman has urged Nigerian youths to embrace peace and shun desperate politicians with divisive tendencies as the 2023 general election approaches.

He made the call in an interview on Tuesday in Jos.

Abdurrahman was on Feb. 24, in Abuja, awarded United Nations Peace Ambassador by the International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA).

Abdurrahman, while thanking God for the recognition, expressed concern over the state of affairs in the country, particularly with how youths were often used to cause chaos and mayhem.

He called on the younger generation to desist from playing second fiddle to politicians and embrace peace as Nigeria needs peace now more than ever.

He also urged the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to up their game by showing the youths the way to go in order to enhance the leadership recruitment system for a better Nigeria.
