Tension As Gunmen Kill Hotel Owner, 3 Guests In Ebonyi

Some-yet-to-be-identified Gunmen yesterday reportedly killed a hotel owner, identified as Chief Ogbonnaya Nwadibia, as well as three guests who were lodged in the hotel, at Isu community in the Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

According a reliable source who spoke to reporters on Monday, the assailants had invaded late Mr Nwadibia’s Galaxy Hotel in motor bikes and unleashed the mayhem.

A resident in the area, Mr Igwe Nwaokorie, who spoke to reporters on Sunday, in Abakaliki said that the incident actually happened on Friday night.

Nwaokorie confirmed that among the three persons killed was the owner of the hotel, Chief Nwadibia, (aka Galaxy).

‘The incident occurred on the night of Thursday, August 26. The suspects came in motorcycles, armed and about three of them, and entered the hotel.

‘Before we could know what was happening, we started to hear gunshots that lasted for some minutes. After they left, three persons were found dead, including the owner of the hotel,’ he explained.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that the incident has caused serious tension in the area since the day of the incident, as residents are said to remain in their homes, the moment it’s some minutes past 5pm, daily.

The Ebonyi State Police Command, on Sunday, confirmed the incident.

The command’s spoken, SP Chris Anyanwu, however, noted that the command was yet to have the full details of the incident.

‘Yes, the Command have heard about the incident but we have not gotten the full detail of what really happened,’ Anyanwu stated.

Lately, the security situation in the South East has continued to worsen with many criminals unleashing mayhem on the people on region.
