Popular afrobeat musician Femi Kuti has denied ever claiming that ‘Obidients’ who are the supporters of the Labour Party presidential candidate for 2023, Peter Obi are zombies, stating that he was merely misquoted by mischievous elements.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that reports which had earlier gone viral on social media had it that Kuti described Obidients as zombies. ‘You know what obedience means? Stand up, sit down, sit there — zombie’ he was reported to have said.

‘How can you be Obidient in this chaos? I am not Obidient. Tell me, at 60, why am I Obidient? You said I should be Obidient, sit down, be peaceful,’ he said. ‘Are you all okay in this country?’, Mr. Kuti was alledged to have said during a performance at the Shrine Thursday night.

However, while reacting in a series of Tweets on Friday, Kuti pointed out that he was misquoted, adding that he never referred to the youths who are supporting the former Governor of Anambra State as zombies.

His words: ‘You are such liars. Of what benefit is it to the people when you take my words out of context like this

‘I said I’m too angry at my age to be obedient. Expressing I do not like the ‘term’. But if Peter Obi wins and actually changes the country better for all of us

‘How you all come up with fabricated lies beats me. But why all the lies? You heard me endorse him or ever anyone? Mr Mc lie lie. Yes and where did I called the youths zombies? I AM NOT BAT.’

Meanwhile, a former Kogi West Senator and the spokesperson of Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Dino Melaye, has announced that it is not yet the time for the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi to become the president of Nigeria, calling on Nigerians to ignore the present ‘noise’ on social media.

Speaking on a Channels Television program which was monitored by Africa Daily News, New York on Friday, Melaye stressed that Peter Obi does not possess what is needed to unify Nigeria at this time, declaring that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate is the only one with that capacity.

According to him, supporters of Obi were mere noise makers who were only creating euphoria on social media, while insisting that they did not have the strength to win the 2023 election.
