Fresh reports hitting the desk of Africa Daily News, New York has revealed that some thirty-five persons who had been abducted by bandits three weeks ago at Keke B Millennium City, Kaduna State have regained their freedom.

It can be recalled that some unidentified gunmen who have been suspected to be bandits had on Monday July 25, 2022, abducted some 35 People from Kaduna Millenium City.

Although nothing had been heard about the victims, relatives had been making frantic efforts to reach out to their captors.

However, out of 36 being abducted, 35 victims were released on Saturday.

A resident in the community, Mr. Jonathan Yusuf, who spoke to Newsmen had disclosed that one person is still in their captivity because the bandits insisted that his family must produce two motorcycles before he regained freedom.

However, a community leader who pleaded for anonymity said that N2.5m was paid for the release of the victims.

In another report, Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, on Friday claimed that the bandits were frustrating the federal government’s efforts to negotiate the release of the remaining victims of the March 28 train incident.

This was as he noted that based on the FG’s efforts, nobody could say that it was ‘not doing anything’ to secure their release.

He pointed out that no one could claim the FG was “not doing anything” to secure their release based on its efforts.

Presidential spokesman during an interview with the BBC Hausa revealed that the bandits’ commander keeping the passengers in captivity had asked the FG to discharge his wife and his pals, However, hostages weren’t released despite FG’s compliance with their demands.
